NEA members elected pro-education lawmakers in 2008 and put our agenda front and center in Washington. Now we have an unprecedented opportunity to make the public investments we know are crucial for students, education professionals, and the future of our country.
Chances like this don't come around often. But if we stand together, we can win crucial legislative battles -- from health care to full funding for public education.

On August 10th, President Obama signed a bill that authorized $10 billion in emergency funds for the Education Jobs and $16 billion for Federal Medicaid Assistance. This crucial legislation will send much-needed funds into states and keep over 161,000 teachers and support professionals working.
None of this would have been possible without the hard work of hundreds of thousands of NEA members, coalition partners, parents and activists. You called and emailed your governors and Congress and demanded we protect educators’ jobs threatened by budget cuts. Learn how you can stay involved with the NEA Fund and be sure that we ensure that pro-public education candidates win this fall.
